Questa hasn't had much luck against McCurdy recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Wildcats will square off against the Bobcats at 3:00 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Questa comes in on four and McCurdy on five.
Last Monday, Questa got the win against Mesa Vista by a conclusive 16-5. The Wildcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four games by 11 runs or more this season.

Noah Rael was a major factor no matter where he played. He struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-2. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Ricardo Leon Jr. was incredible, firing off two home runs and three RBI while going 2-for-3. Those two home runs gave him a new career-high. James Garcia was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-1.
Questa was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .526. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, while McCurdy put up plenty of runs on Thursday, the same can't be said for Mesa Vista. The Bobcats were the clear victors by a 24-0 margin over the Trojans. The result was nothing new for the Bobcats, who have now won four matchups by 22 runs or more so far this season.
Taden Sisneros and Celestino Salazar-Archuleta made a big impact while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Sisneros tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Salazar-Archuleta tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. At the plate, Sisneros scored two runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances, while Salazar-Archuleta scored three runs and stole four bases while going 2-for-4. Salazar-Archuleta is becoming a predictor of McCurdy's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 6-1 (and 1-3 when he doesn't).
In other batting news, Ethan Bolton was a standout: he got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. McCurdy is undefeated when Bolton posts two or more runs, but 2-4 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Carlos Garcia, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3.
McCurdy pushed their record up to 7-4 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 22.8 runs over those games. As for Questa, their record now sits at 4-5.
Friday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Questa has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .598. However, it's not like McCurdy struggles in that department as they've averaged .641. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
