Even though the Cardinal O'Hara Hawks have not done well against The Park School of Buffalo Pioneers recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. Cardinal O'Hara snuck past the Pioneers with a 69-65 win. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Cardinal O'Hara to victory, but perhaps none more so than Gavin Johnson, who scored 20 points along with three steals and two blocks. It was the first time this season that Johnson posted two or more blocks. Kels Ivey was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds.
The Park School of Buffalo lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Jarrell Green, who scored 30 points along with two steals. Green hasn't dropped below two steals for 11 straight games. Another player making a difference was Willy Kibowa Jr, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 rebounds.
Cardinal O'Hara's victory bumped their record up to 7-9. As for The Park School of Buffalo, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-11.
Cardinal O'Hara will be playing at home against the Vikings at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Nichols' favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last six matchups. As for The Park School of Buffalo, they will head out on the road to square off against the Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Bishop Timon-St. Jude focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Monday.
