Basketball Recap: York Country Day's Win on Wednesday Extends Winning Streak to Eight

York Country Day put another one in the bag on Wednesday to keep their perfect season alive. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the East Juniata Tigers 74-29. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 46-17.

York Country Day's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ryan Maus led the charge by putting up 17 points and six steals. Maus has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Isaiah White, who posted 17 points.

York Country Day was working as a unit and finished the game with 25 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as East Juniata only racked up ten assists.

Despite the loss, East Juniata had strong showings from Wrett Smith, who had eight points and five assists, and Samuel Kopacki, who went 6 of 14 on his way to 15 points and six rebounds.

York Country Day pushed their record up to 8-0 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 81.2 points per game. As for East Juniata, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season.

York Country Day will challenge Dayspring Christian Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Dayspring Christian Academy will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something York Country Day surely won't give up without a fight. As for East Juniata, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 57-54 defeat against Millersburg on the 9th.
