The Mays Raiders put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. They enjoyed a cozy 63-46 win over Cedar Grove. Given Mays' advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked sixth, while Cedar Grove is ranked 119th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Derron Lindsey ii, who shot 8-for-11 from deep and dropped a double-double on 26 points and 10 assists. That makes it three consecutive games in which he has scored at least 25% of Mays' points. Another player making a difference was Tyler Baldwin-Hughes , who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 10 assists.
Despite the loss, Cedar Grove saw an underclassman step up: Emmanuel Green scored 18 points. The matchup was Green's fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Dontavius Stringfield, who scored 10 points.
Mays' victory bumped their record up to 5-0. As for Cedar Grove, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-2.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mays will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Jackson at 7:30 p.m. on December 8th. As for Cedar Grove, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Lithonia at 7:30 p.m.
