Columbus Academy is a perfect 5-0 against Bishop Ready since March of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Vikings will be playing in front of their home fans against the Silver Knights at 5:15 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Monday.
Columbus Academy's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Saturday. They were the clear victors by a 9-0 margin over Whetstone. Considering the Vikings have won seven contests by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Bishop Ready not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since April 8th (when they won 15-5). They were the clear victors by an 8-1 margin over Franklin Heights. The Silver Knights haven't had any issues with the Falcons recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.
Brendan Long was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single hit and allowed only one earned run while striking out nine over six innings pitched. Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three stolen bases, and two runs. He has become a key player for Bishop Ready: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 3-10 otherwise.
In other batting news, Liam Hanson was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April. Alex Hickey was another key player, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.
Bishop Ready lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Bishop Ready's win bumped their record up to 5-11. As for Columbus Academy, the victory got them back to even at 9-9.
Everything went Columbus Academy's way against Bishop Ready when the teams last played back in April of 2025, as Columbus Academy made off with a 13-5 win. Do the Vikings have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Silver Knights turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
