The Corinth Warriors lost a heartbreaker to the Lafayette Commodores when they met last Tuesday, and they left with a heavy heart again on Tuesday. Corinth fell to Lafayette 64-59. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Corinth in their matchups with Lafayette: they've now lost three in a row.
Despite the loss, Corinth saw an underclassman step up: Xae Mayes almost dropped a double-double on 21 points and nine rebounds. Mayes is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Braedyn Burress, who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds.
Corinth has been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-16 record this season. As for Lafayette, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 14-13.
Corinth does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Lafayette, they will be playing in front of their home fans against New Hope at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Lafayette is on a three-game streak of home wins, New Hope a ten-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
