The Cassopolis Rangers won the last time they faced the Lawrence Tigers, and things went their way on Saturday too. Cassopolis came out on top against Lawrence by a score of 44-36. The squad ran away with 33 points in the first half and mostly just sat on those to pick up the win.
Cassopolis was led to victory by Malachi Ward and Kenny May. Ward scored 17 points along with seven steals, while May scored 13 points along with five blocks and two steals. Ward is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last seven games he's played. Another player making a difference was Ayden Gillam, who scored five points along with three steals.
Cassopolis' win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 5-3. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.5 points per game. As for Lawrence, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-8.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cassopolis will square off against Comstock at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Comstock is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak. As for Lawrence, they will head out on the road to square off against Fennville at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
