Horizon is 1-9 against Fairview since February of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Horizon Hawks will be playing in front of their home fans against the Fairview Knights at 6:30 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Winning is just a little bit easier when you outrebound your opponent 14 to 6 on the offensive boards, a fact Horizon proved on Friday. They walked away with a 57-48 win over Erie.
Horizon had a senior duo take command as Alex Mccollum dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 rebounds and Brady Greene scored ten points along with nine rebounds. That's the first time this season that Mccollum scored 15 or more points. Aiden Greene was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with six rebounds.
Meanwhile, Fairview strolled past Poudre with points to spare on Wednesday, taking the game 69-50.
Fairview got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Bekkem Kritza out in front who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. Kritza has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Spencer Brown, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds.
Horizon's victory bumped their record up to 5-6. As for Fairview, the victory got them back to even at 6-6.
Friday's match is shaping up to be a masterclass in shooting: Horizon have been dynamite from deep this season, having nailed 47.6% of their threes per game. However, it's not like Fairview struggles in that department as they've drained 43.7% of their threes per game this season. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Horizon ended up a good deal behind Fairview in their previous meeting back in January of 2023, losing 65-50. Will Horizon have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other basketball content.
