The Timnath Cubs will head out on the road to challenge the Highland Huskies at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with Timnath sitting on four straight wins and Highland on five.
Last Wednesday, Timnath didn't have too much trouble with Brush on the road as they won 55-40. Given Timnath's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 101st, while Brush is ranked 229th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Timnath found their leader in underclassman Gretchen Deines, who scored 18 points along with eight rebounds and six steals. Deines' trending in the right direction, as she's improved his point production for three games straight. Another player making a difference was Izzy Schimmelpfennig, who scored ten points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, Highland can now show off six landslide victories after their most recent match on Thursday. They took their game on the road with ease, bagging a 57-17 victory over Frontier Academy. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Highland has posted yet this season.
Timnath pushed their record up to 12-3 with that win, which was their sixth straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.8 points per game. As for Highland, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 9-5 record this season.
Timnath came up short against Highland when the teams last played back in January of 2023, falling 45-37. Can Timnath avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
