An exciting East v. West battle is about to be fought. The Morristown-Hamblen West Trojans are taking a road trip to face off against the Morristown-Hamblen East Hurricanes at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Morristown-Hamblen East took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Morristown-Hamblen West, who comes in off a win.
Morristown-Hamblen West's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They didn't even let Sevier County on the board, marking Morristown-Hamblen West's second-straight 10-0 shutout. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Trojans.
Briony Bunsic made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out ten over five innings pitched. Bunsic was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. That triple marked the first that she hit this season.
In other batting news, Eva Boudier was excellent, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. Those hits marked the first that she got this season. Cadence Beaver was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.
Morristown-Hamblen West was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .414. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Sevier County only posted a batting average of .059.
Meanwhile, Morristown-Hamblen East came up short against David Crockett on Friday and fell 9-4.
Morristown-Hamblen East saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jaycee Hamilton, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.
Morristown-Hamblen West's record now sits at 2-4. As for Morristown-Hamblen East, their defeat was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-4.
Everything went Morristown-Hamblen West's way against Morristown-Hamblen East in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, as Morristown-Hamblen West made off with a 12-2 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Morristown-Hamblen West since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
