After flying high against the Howell North Knights on Tuesday, the Parkway South Patriots came back down to earth. Parkway South fell 57-46 to Fort Zumwalt West on Thursday. Parkway South found out winning isn't easy when you make 11 fewer threes than your opponent.
Despite the defeat, Parkway South had strong showings from Ryan Shanfeld, who scored ten points along with five assists, and Tristen Sutton, who scored 11 points. Shanfeld set a new season high mark in blocks with two. Adam Burjoski was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Fort Zumwalt West's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Noah Schaepperkoetter led the charge by scoring 13 points. Another player making a difference was Nick Turner, who scored 13 points.
Parkway South bumped their record down to 2-4 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road. As for Fort Zumwalt West, the victory got them back to even at 4-4.
Parkway South will take on Paseo Academy of Performing Arts in a holiday battle at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday at. Fort Zumwalt West won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Fort Zumwalt South at 7:00 p.m. on December 15th.
