North Olmsted hasn't had much luck against Normandy recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Eagles will venture away from home to square off against the Invaders at 5:00 p.m.
Buckeye hit North Olmsted with a four-run seventh inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Eagles lost 8-2 to the Bucks.
North Olmsted saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Patrick Ryan, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base. Nolan Feldt also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.
Meanwhile, Normandy had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 9-8 W against the Demons.
Gabe Montgomery looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he posted two strikeouts, the most he's had over his last three contests.
At the plate, Peyton Wolf and Logan Saban did most of the damage at the plate: Wolf went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double, while Saban went 3-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI Wolf has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Jensen Vargo, who went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Normandy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive matches.
Normandy pushed their record up to 9-13 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for North Olmsted, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-12.
North Olmsted might still be hurting after the 10-0 loss they got from Normandy when the teams last played two weeks ago. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
