After both having extra time off, the New Canaan Rams and the Darien Blue Wave will shake off the cobwebs and challenge one another at 10:00 a.m. on November 23rd. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
New Canaan entered their tilt with McMahon with seven consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with eight. New Canaan beat McMahon two weeks ago by the very same score they won with last week: 42-6. With New Canaan ahead 28-0 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
New Canaan can attribute much of their success to Cooper Smith, who rushed for 113 yards and two touchdowns. Smith was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 58 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Dylan Prior, who rushed for 78 yards and a touchdown on only six carries.
Meanwhile, Darien blew past Bridgeport Central, posting a 45-6 win on the road. Given Darien's advantage in MaxPreps' Connecticut football rankings (they are ranked 18th, while Bridgeport Central is ranked 137th), the result two weeks ago wasn't entirely unexpected.
New Canaan has yet to lose a game at home this season, leaving them with a 8-1 record. As for Darien, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-2.
New Canaan skirted past Darien 13-10 in their previous meeting back in November of 2022. Does New Canaan have another victory up their sleeve, or will Darien turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
