Garret Lewis of Sipsey Valley ran for the longest rushing play in 3A Region 3 this season against Curry last week. Lewis scampered for 71 yards on the play and finished with 203 on the day as his team beat the Yellowjackets.
Lewis and Braylan Smith provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Curry. The connection went for 96 yards, the longest such play in the league this season.
Antonio Ford's team's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Lewis threw for 347 and three touchdowns and Smith had 202 yards receiving. Jamerius Leatherwood helped Sipsey Valley's passing attack out by catching two balls for 91 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when American Christian Academy takes on Gordo. At the moment, the Patriots are in third, while the Green Wave are in fourth.
Fayette County extended the longest winning streak in 3A Region 3 this week by beating Sulligent, 41-13. The victory was the fourth in a row for the Tigers.
