Eldorado is on a four-game streak of home wins, while La Cueva is on an 11-game streak of away wins (dating back to last season): one of those streaks is about to end. The Golden Eagles will face off against the Bears at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
The home team had won the previous six meetings between Eldorado and Rio Grande, and Eldorado kept the tradition alive. The Golden Eagles were the clear victors by a 20-2 margin over the Ravens last Monday. The Golden Eagles' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Mya Zamora was a standout: she scored three runs while going 4-for-4. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (three). Alyssa Martinez was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.
Eldorado was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .568. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .533 or higher in five consecutive games.
21 must be La Cueva's lucky number: they beat Manzano with that score not once but twice on Monday. The Bears didn't even let the Monarchs on the board, marking the Bears' second-straight 21-0 shutout.
Liliana Montoya was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.
In other batting news, La Cueva got a massive performance out of Genesis Jaramillo, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-3. Another player making a difference was Maxx Cordero, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs.
La Cueva's win bumped their record up to 14-3. As for Eldorado, they now have a winning record of 8-7.
Saturday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Eldorado hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .447. However, it's not like La Cueva struggles in that department as they've averaged .468. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Eldorado came up short against La Cueva in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, falling 6-2. Will the Golden Eagles have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
