The Union Area Scotties pushed their score all the way to 59 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 66-59 hit to the loss column at the hands of Shenango. Union Area was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Shenango apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February.
Union Area's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Grayson Blakely, who scored 11 points along with 5 rebounds. Braylon Thomas was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with 7 rebounds.
Union Area's defeat dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Shenango, their victory bumped their record up to 1-2.
Coincidentally, both teams will both be playing Ellwood City the next time they take the court. Union Area will host Ellwood City at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, while Shenango will host them at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday.
