The St. Francis Spartans had to endure a five-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They secured a 57-52 W over Sycamore on Thursday. This was payback for St. Francis, who suffered a 55-48 loss the last time these two teams met.
St. Francis' win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lynsey Cleveland, who scored 17 points along with eight rebounds. Those 17 points set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was T?a Rubino, who scored 18 points.
St. Francis now has a winning record of 9-8. As for Sycamore, their loss ended a seven-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 11-7.
St. Francis is on the road again on Saturday and play against Fenwick at 1:30 p.m. on January 6th. Fenwick will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings (they are ranked 320th, while St. Francis is ranked 92nd). As for Sycamore, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Hampshire at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Hampshire will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
