The Garrison Bulldogs will challenge the San Augustine Wolves at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Garrison's favor is that they have posted at least 31 points in their last four games.
Garrison proved they can win big last Friday (they won by 39) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Shelbyville, sneaking past 35-33. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Bulldogs have posted since September 6, 2024.

This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Carter Crawford and Avery Yarbrough. Crawford rushed for 187 yards and three touchdowns on only 12 carries while Yarbrough rushed for 189 yards and a pair of scores. What's more, Yarbrough posted two rushing touchdowns, the most he's had since back in November of 2024.
Garrison was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 370 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 225 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.
One reason for the win was Garrison's imposing defensive line, which managed to get into the backfield for five sacks. Shelbyville's QB won't forget Ronnie Jernigan anytime soon given he sacked him twice.
Meanwhile, San Augustine entered their tilt with Joaquin on Friday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They came out on top against the Rams by a score of 28-21.
San Augustine's win came from a few key players Garrison will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Tymorian Cartwright, who rushed for 41 yards and one TD, and also picked up 52 receiving yards. Andrew Nash was another key player, rushing for 76 yards and one touchdown.
Garrison's victory bumped their record up to 4-2. As for San Augustine, their win bumped their record up to an identical 4-2.
Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Garrison has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 342.7 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like San Augustine struggles in that department as they've been averaging 188.5 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Everything came up roses for Garrison against San Augustine in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, as the squad secured a 31-0 victory. Will the Bulldogs repeat their success, or do the Wolves have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
