The Somerville Highlanders's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their tenth straight loss dating back to last season. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 72-48 walloping at the hands of Lynn English. Somerville has not had much luck with Lynn English recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.
Lynn English's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Denzell Guillen, who scored 21 points along with eight rebounds. The match was Guillen's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Carmelo Buese, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 12 rebounds.
Somerville bumped their record down to 0-3 with that loss, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Lynn English, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-0.
Somerville will head out on the road to face off against Medford at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Lynn English will be home for the holidays to greet Everett at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Everett knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matchups -- so hopefully Lynn English likes a good challenge.
