Auburn lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Grayson County, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Wednesday's contest. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 games by seven runs or more this season.

McKenzie Booth made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.
In other pitching news, Skyler Hodges looked comfortable as she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances.
Back at the plate, Auburn let Ariel Mullins and Kaylee Ramrattan run wild. Mullins went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI, while Ramrattan went 3-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Hope Wilson, who went 1-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.
Auburn kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, George Wythe had to endure a five-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They came out on top against Giles by a score of 7-2 on Monday. The game was the first time the Maroons have beaten the Spartans on their field since April 29, 2024.
Morgan Layne spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on two hits and racked up seven Ks.
On the hitting side, Temperence Smith was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. Madison Hatcher was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run.
Auburn pushed their record up to 15-4 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for George Wythe, their victory bumped their record up to 7-11.
George Wythe's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Auburn has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .473. It's a different story for George Wythe, though, as they've only averaged .346. Will they be able to contain Auburn's hitters?
Auburn took their win against George Wythe in their previous matchup two weeks ago by a conclusive 17-4 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
