Bethesda Christian is 9-1 against Indiana School for the Deaf since November of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Bethesda Christian Patriots on the road again and play against the Indiana School for the Deaf Deaf Hoosiers at 6:00 p.m. on February 2nd. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Even though Bethesda Christian has not done well against Covenant Christian recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Bethesda Christian took down Covenant Christian 56-40.
Bethesda Christian relied on the efforts of Kenzie Fulks, who scored 23 points along with seven assists and seven steals, and Sydney Goodin, who scored 25 points along with five rebounds and two steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Fulks has scored at least a third of Bethesda Christian's points. Another player making a difference was Jayla Ferguson, who scored five points along with nine rebounds and two blocks.
Meanwhile, Indiana School for the Deaf had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 33.6 points), and they went ahead and made it six on Thursday. They blew past BELIEVE Circle City 61-15 at home. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Indiana School for the Deaf has posted since December 16, 2023.
It was another big night for Sophia Wascher, who dropped a double-double on 26 points and 14 rebounds. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 13 games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Tiana Starayev, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 assists.
Bethesda Christian has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten matches, which provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season. As for Indiana School for the Deaf, their win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-8.
Friday's game is shaping up to be a masterclass in shooting: Bethesda Christian have been dynamite from deep this season, having made 40% of their threes per game. However, it's not like Indiana School for the Deaf struggles in that department as they've made 38.6% of their threes per game this season. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
