Softball Recap: Tuesday's Win Is Peniel Baptist Academy's 11th in Last 13 Outings

Peniel Baptist Academy had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 12-run drubbing they dealt First Coast Christian on Tuesday. The Warriors were the clear victors by a 13-1 margin over the Knights. Considering the Warriors have won 13 matchups by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Kenna Cone made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out ten batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and only one walk). Those ten strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Peniel Baptist Academy got a massive performance out of Alexis Peacock, who scored three runs and stole three bases while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. That's the most stolen bases Peacock has posted since back in April of 2024. McKenzie Zurn was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Peniel Baptist Academy hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in eight consecutive contests.

Peniel Baptist Academy is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 13 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-3 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.9 runs on average over those games. As for First Coast Christian, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-6.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Peniel Baptist Academy will head out to square off against P.K. Yonge at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for First Coast Christian, they will venture away from home to challenge Cornerstone Classical Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Knights are facing the Spartans at the right time seeing as the Spartans are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
