Carrollton (Ga.) received a huge boost from its defense against Columbus (Ga.), as the unit scored 14 in defeating Columbus (Ga.), 66-0.
The Trojans were up 51-0 at the half after taking the lead on a
Dan Harris touchdown run in the first quarter.
Carrollton expanded its lead to 59 points entering the fourth quarter. The Trojans scored two times in the third, including once on a touchdown run by
Jarrett Sipola.
Carrollton put up 37 points in the first quarter en route to the win. The Trojans scored on a Harris touchdown run, a defensive touchdown, a defensive touchdown, a punt return touchdown by
Sean Rhichardson and a touchdown run by Harris in the quarter.
Carrollton's most effective player was Harris. The senior ran for two touchdowns. He has now scored three touchdowns on the season.
When the two teams played each other last season, the Trojans came away with a 56-14 victory.
The victory was a step in the right direction for Carrollton, which was coming off a 46-35 defeat at the hands of Calhoun in its previous game.
Carrollton (2-2) will play a AAAA Region 5 game against Fayette County next week, while Columbus (0-4) will take on LaGrange also in a AAAA Region 5 game.
