Destin's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Bryson Nixon, who scored 16 points. Traiton Mauffray was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with six assists and three steals.
Pine Forest was led to victory by J?Kosi Black and Maurice Smith. Black scored 12 points, while Smith scored 15 points along with six rebounds. Smith hasn't dropped below 15points for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Kayden Calderon, who scored seven points along with two steals.
Destin's loss dropped their record down to 10-9. As for Pine Forest, they pushed their record up to 10-9 with that victory, which was their fourth straight at home.
Destin and Freeport will face off at 6:30 p.m. on January 22nd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Freeport is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak. As for Pine Forest, they will be playing at home against Choctawhatchee at 7:15 p.m. on Monday.
