Basketball Recap: Kamille Grohmann and Karmon Grohmann Secure Win for Gibault Catholic

Gibault Catholic hadn't done well against Father McGivney Catholic recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Gibault Catholic Hawks took down the Father McGivney Catholic Griffins 43-28. The victory was some much needed relief for the Hawks as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.

Leading Gibault Catholic to victory were Karmon Grohmann and Kamille Grohmann. Karmon dropped a double-double on 18 points and 17 rebounds, while Kamille dropped a double-double on 15 boards and 11 assists. What's more, Kamille also racked up seven steals, the most she's had since back in November of 2024. Claire Higgerson was another key player, putting up eight points.

They weren't the only one working in the assists department: Gibault Catholic was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Several Griffins players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Izzie Venarsky, who posted two points and ten boards. Venarsky is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last five games she's played. Another player making a difference was Emme McGaughey, who earned eight points.

Gibault Catholic now has a winning record of 11-10. As for Father McGivney Catholic, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 13-9.

Gibault Catholic will square off against Bunker Hill at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Father McGivney Catholic, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 61-12 win against Metro-East Lutheran on the 25th.
