Pebble Hills took care of business in their home opener on Friday. They walked away with a 21-12 win over the Canutillo Eagles. This was payback for the Spartans, who suffered a 7-0 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Pebble Hills got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Joe Fernandez out in front who threw for 190 yards and a pair of TDs on only 13 passes, and also rushed for 53 yards. Those 190 passing yards gave Fernandez a new career-high. Pebble Hills also got a significant boost from Oscar Hernandez, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 114 yards.

Canutillo lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Ceasar Huerta, who threw for 223 yards and two touchdowns, and also rushed for 45 yards.
Pebble Hills will hit the road for the first time this season to face off against Midland at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Canutillo, they will welcome Montwood at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
