Bruce (Miss.) put up eight points in the fourth quarter in Saturday's game to seal their 35-7 victory over
East Webster (Maben, Miss.).
After taking the lead on a
Zay Armstrong touchdown run in the first quarter, the Trojans led 14-7 at the half.
Bruce expanded its lead to 20 points entering the fourth quarter. BHS scored two times in the third, including once on a
Davis Brown touchdown run.
The Trojans' most effective player was Brown. The senior quarterback threw two touchdowns, ran for one touchdown and caught one touchdown. He has now scored eight touchdowns on the season.
The Wolverines' lone touchdown came on a 5-yard run in the second quarter.
East Webster came in allowing just 9.2 points per game this season. EW struggled against Bruce's offense, which entered the game scoring 38.7 points per game. BHS went into the matchup giving up only 10.2 points per game. The seven points that the Maben school ended with were well below its average of 25.5 coming into the game.
The defeat comes as a step back for East Webster, which notched a 36-8 victory over Strayhorn in its previous outing.
