The Woodlawn Cardinals have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine matches by 22 points or more this season. They claimed a resounding 59-18 win over Wayne City on the road. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 31-9.
Woodlawn got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Olivia Skinner out in front who scored 13 points along with four steals. Skinner has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Aryka Warren, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds and four steals.
Woodlawn is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season. As for Wayne City, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-9.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Woodlawn's road trip will continue as they head out to face Sandoval at 7:30 p.m. on January 4th. As for Wayne City, they will square off against Brownstown/St. Elmo at 6:15 p.m. on Monday. The timing is sure in Brownstown/St. Elmo's favor as the team sits on five straight wins at home while Wayne City has been banged up by eight consecutive losses on the road dating back to last season.
