Central Connecticut II East recap Oct. 16, 2012
Edwin O. Smith was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from sixth to fourth in Central Connecticut II East. The Panthers defeated East Hartford 20-7 earlier in the week.
Fermi's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Andrew Wilcox threw for 212 yards and Frank Kusta had 106 yards receiving. On the ground Tim Callahan chipped in 105 yards. Bailey Raymond helped Fermi's passing attack out by catching three balls for 63 yards.
Nick Meakem made the biggest impact on defense this week as Edwin O. Smith beat the Hornets. The 5-foot-10 senior grabbed two interceptions, forced one fumble, recorded one fumble and racked up one sack.
Fermi's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Falcons feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Wilcox has thrown for 525 yards and one touchdown this season, while Raymond has 17 catches for 287 yards. Callahan leads the league in rushing with 308 yards.
The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place Hartford Public takes on second place Wethersfield. Hartford Public lost to Manchester last week, while Wethersfield bested Bristol Central.
Two of the top units in Central Connecticut II East will face off this week when the Eagles take on the Owls. Wethersfield's offense has recorded 83 points this season, making them No. 1 in the league, while Hartford Public has permitted only 67 on the year.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Harry Bellucci's team takes on John Campanello's team. The Owls have allowed 67 points this season, while the Eagles have given up 97. Hartford Public allowed 48 points last week as it fell to the Indians.
Wethersfield led the league in scoring this week after putting up 47 points on the Rams.
