The Venice Indians will face off against the Frostproof Bulldogs at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Venice is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.6 runs per game this season.

Venice lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Riverview Sarasota, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Wednesday's match. The Indians were the clear victors by a 7-1 margin over the Rams on Wednesday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Jayde Neptune spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on six hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, Riley Sullivan was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Molly Sullivan, who scored a run while going 3-for-4.

Riley wasn't the only one working in the home run department: Venice lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in April of 2024.

Meanwhile, Frostproof came up short against Avon Park on Monday, falling 13-4. The loss continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their meetings with the Red Devils: they've now lost three in a row.

Frostproof saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Trinity Tary, who scored a run while going 2-for-4. Jennah Harrel also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Venice has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Frostproof, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-12.
