Baseball Game Preview: First Academy Eagles vs. St. John Lutheran Saints

First Academy is 9-1 against St. John Lutheran since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Eagles will challenge the Saints at 4:00 p.m. The two teams were dealt some close losses in their previous games and are determined not to let this one get away.

First Academy is headed into Tuesday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Friday. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 21-19 heartbreaker at the hands of Tavares. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Eagles have suffered since March 21st.

Caiden Wilcox was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs while going 3-for-6. He has become a key player for First Academy: the team is 7-2 when he posts at least two runs, but 3-5 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Collin Herrell, who scored two runs while going 4-for-6.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 12 runs the game before, St. John Lutheran was a bit more limited in their contest on Thursday. They fell just short of Countryside Christian by a score of 3-1.

St. John Lutheran saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Adam Stillwell, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.

St. John Lutheran's defeat dropped their record down to 12-9. As for First Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 10-7.

First Academy took their win against St. John Lutheran in their previous meeting back in April of 2023 by a conclusive 27-3 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
