The Cape Fear Colts had to kick off their season on the road on Saturday, but they showed no ill effects. They enjoyed a cozy 49-34 victory over Green Level.
Jayda Angel was the offensive standout of the matchup as she scored 20 points along with 8 rebounds and 5 steals. Teralyn Harris was another key contributor, scoring 10 points along with 9 rebounds and 3 steals.
Green Level's loss came despite strong showings from Deana Prasad and Claire Barber. Prasad scored 18 points along with 6 rebounds, while Barber scored 12 points along with 6 rebounds. Prasad scored a full 52.9% of Green Level's points, the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Cape Fear's win bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Green Level, their loss dropped their record down to 2-1.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cape Fear will take on Red Springs at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Green Level, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Willow Spring at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Willow Spring focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Saturday.
