The Goshen Central Gladiators will face off against the Middletown Middie Bears at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.
Goshen Central barely beat Cornwall Central the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Gladiators blew past the Dragons 8-1 on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Gladiators, who have now won eight games by six runs or more so far this season.

Addison Freiberger was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out six over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Sophia Springer, who went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Olivia Jordan, who went 2-for-5 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Middletown not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since April 1st (when they won 22-0). They were the clear victors by a 17-5 margin over Newburgh Free Academy. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Middie Bears.
Like Goshen Central, Middletown also got a great game from a two-way player: Bethannie French. On the mound, she tossed six innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits. French was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with two runs. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April.
In other batting news, Gabriella Diaz was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI and two runs. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Isabella Platero was another key player, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with three RBI, one run, and one double.
Goshen Central has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.2 runs over those games. As for Middletown, they now have a winning record of 8-7.
Middletown's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Goshen Central hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .340. It's a different story for Middletown, though, as they've only averaged .227. Will they be able to contain Goshen Central's hitters?
Goshen Central couldn't quite get it done against Middletown in their previous meeting back in March of 2023 as they fell 5-1. Will the Gladiators have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other softball content.
