Gulf Coast has gone 10-0 against Lely recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Gulf Coast Sharks will be playing in front of their home fans against the Lely Trojans at 7:00 p.m. Gulf Coast's defense has only allowed 27.7 points per game this season, so Lely's offense will have their work cut out for them.
Gulf Coast is headed into Tuesday's contest hungry for a win as their strong season has now been derailed by two straight defeats. They took a 44-37 hit to the loss column at the hands of Monsignor Pace back in December of 2024.
Despite their loss, Gulf Coast saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Lilly Fultz, who posted ten points and four steals, was perhaps the best of all. The team also got some help courtesy of Mackenzie Mcmaster, who had four points along with seven rebounds and four blocks.
Meanwhile, Lely was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Saturday as they fell 40-35 to Seacrest Country Day. The Trojans haven't had much luck with the Stingrays recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Like Lely, they lost despite seeing results from several players. Fara Louissaint led the charge by going 6 of 15 on her way to 14 points and three steals. Louissaint has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Zashlie Andris, who posted nine points and three steals.
Even though they lost, Lely smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in three consecutive matchups.
Gulf Coast's defeat ended an 11-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 7-2. As for Lely, their loss dropped their record down to 7-7.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Gulf Coast has crashing the boards this season, having averaged 24.9 boards per game. However, it's not like Lely struggles in that department as they've been averaging 33 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Gulf Coast took their win against Lely in their previous meeting back in November of 2023 by a conclusive 50-30. Will Gulf Coast repeat their success, or does Lely have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
