Eastern Randolph has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against the Providence Grove Patriots at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Eastern Randolph scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They blew past Trinity, posting a 54-8 win at home. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest victory Eastern Randolph has managed all season.
Eastern Randolph can attribute much of their success to Kenly Whitaker, who scored 13 points along with eight steals, and Ziera Watson, who scored 19 points along with eight steals and five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Watson has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Callie Craven, who scored eight points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Even though Providence Grove has not done well against Wheatmore recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Providence Grove walked away with a 52-40 win over Wheatmore.
Eastern Randolph's win ended a six-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-13. Providence Grove's record now sits at 10-7.
Eastern Randolph strolled past Providence Grove in their previous matchup back in February of 2023 by a score of 51-33. The rematch might be a little tougher for Eastern Randolph since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
