Even though the Keene Central Beavers scored an imposing 56 points on Monday, the Crown Point Panthers still came out on top. Crown Point took their matchup against Keene Central 63-56. Given Crown Point's advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 156th, while Keene Central is ranked 348th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Crown Point was led to victory by Reese Pertak and Trevor Harris. Pertak scored 22 points along with five assists and three steals, while Harris dropped a double-double on 31 points and 18 rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which Harris has scored at least 25% of Crown Point's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryan Russell, who scored four points along with six rebounds.
Despite the loss, Keene Central saw an underclassman step up: Asa Sprague scored 21 points. Those 21 points set a new season-high mark for him. Peter Robjent was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
The win was the third in a row for Crown Point, bringing their record for this year to 3-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.3 points per game. As for Keene Central, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-3.
Crown Point will be home for the holidays to greet Warrensburg at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Warrensburg focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Friday. As for Keene Central, they will head out on the road to face off against Indian Lake Central at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
