Basketball Recap: Claire Mackenny and Gabbi Maher Secure Win for Lassiter

There's no place like home for Lassiter, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Monday. They greeted the New Year with with a 65-49 win over the Roswell Hornets. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 57-36 back in November of 2024.

Leading Lassiter to victory were Gabbi Maher and Claire Mackenny. Maher went 8 of 13 on her way to 21 points, while Mackenny went 7 for 11 on her way to 18 points. That's the most points Mackenny has posted since back in December of 2023. Malia Loadwick was another key player, putting up seven points along with seven assists and six boards.

Lassiter has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a massive bump to their 7-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.5 points per game. As for Roswell, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-9.

Lassiter didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 61-17 victory against Riverwood on the 7th. As for Roswell, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 36-28 win against Cambridge on the 7th.
