Englewood dropped their record down to 9-8 on Friday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They lost 9-0 to the Jefferson Academy Jaguars. While getting shut out isn't ideal, the Pirates haven't been shut out since back in March.

As for Jefferson Academy, their victory ended a nine-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-17-1. That looming 9-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for them yet this season.

For Jefferson Academy's part, Ben Pederson made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 14 over six innings pitched. Those 14 strikeouts gave Pederson a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Riley Prevost, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Another player making a difference was Zane Riley, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Looking ahead, Englewood will be playing at home against Weld Central at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Pirates are facing the Rebels at the right time seeing as the Rebels are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Jefferson Academy, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Peak to Peak.
