Pleasant Grove is 6-1 against Liberty-Eylau since September of 2016, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Pleasant Grove Hawks will be playing in front of their home fans against the Liberty-Eylau Leopards at 7:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Pleasant Grove has seven straight victories, Liberty-Eylau has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Last Friday, Pleasant Grove humbled Pittsburg with a 63-7 victory. The result was nothing new for Pleasant Grove, who have now won four matchups by 35 points or more so far this season.
Meanwhile, Liberty-Eylau took a serious blow against Gilmer on Friday, falling 56-12. While losing is never fun, Liberty-Eylau can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 668th, while Gilmer is ranked 189th).
Although Liberty-Eylau took the loss, they still got scores from Britain Pipes and Tavarious Neal.
Pleasant Grove's victory was their eighth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which bumped their overall record up to 7-0. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 1-9 Spring Hill and 2-8 Paris (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 41.4% over those games). Liberty-Eylau has not been sharp this season, as they've lost five of their first six contests, which leaves them at a 1-5 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Pleasant Grove against Liberty-Eylau in their previous matchup back in October of 2022 as the team secured a 42-15 victory. Does Pleasant Grove have another victory up their sleeve, or will Liberty-Eylau turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
