Northern Lakes recap Oct. 23, 2012
Napoleon extended the longest winning streak in Northern Lakes this week by beating Northview, 48-7. The victory was the sixth in a row for the Wildcats.
Perrysburg took down Bowling Green 63-7 last week, the largest margin of any game. Steve Slocum threw for 43 yards and one touchdown and ran for 153 yards in the win.
Sean McGovern was the best wideout in the league this week as Maumee defeated Anthony Wayne. McGovern racked up three receptions for 88 yards. Dominique King helped Maumee's passing attack out by catching two balls for 23 yards.
David Yunker put up the best numbers through the air as Napoleon topped the Wildcats. He finished with a total of three completions for 83 yards and one touchdown. Yunker's favorite target this week was Nick George, who caught one pass for 45 yards.
Steve Duby provided a threat through the air and on the ground as the Panthers bested the Generals. He completed eight passes for 140 yards and also ran for 88 yards.
Maumee's Duby and King have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Duby has thrown for 1559 yards this season, while King, a 6-foot-0 receiver, has 24 catches for 545 yards. Slocum from the Yellowjackets leads the league in rushing with 1042 yards.
Andrew Schultz of the John Boles' team is only 93 yards short of surpassing 1,000 rushing yards for the season. Schultz has rushed for 907 yards on 114 carries so far this year.
A big matchup in Northern Lakes this week will be when Matt Kregel's team takes on the Panthers. As it stands, the Yellowjackets are in second, while Maumee is in third.
Perrysburg led the league in scoring this week after putting up 63 points on the Bobcats. Slocum in the win.
