Poth entered their tilt with Nixon-Smiley on Monday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They blew past the Mustangs 9-3. The result was nothing new for the Pirates, who have now won ten contests by six runs or more so far this season.

The team relied heavily on Caiden Gorzell, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in February. Lucas Trevino was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs and two RBI.

Poth's victory bumped their record up to 15-6. As for Nixon-Smiley, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-9.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Poth will welcome Karnes City at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Pirates are facing the Badgers at the right time seeing as the Badgers are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Nixon-Smiley, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Goliad at 7:00 p.m. The Mustangs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Tigers have averaged an impressive 8.5 runs per game this season.
