The Broughton Capitals will face off against the Cary Imps at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Broughton's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Rolesville with a sharp 8-0 victory. That looming 8-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Capitals yet this season.

Gray Veit looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Broughton is undefeated when he allows at most two earned runs, but 0-3 otherwise.
On the hitting side, Reign Taylor was incredible, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. He also put up a double, which was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Weston Rhem, who went 3-for-5 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Broughton kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April of 2025.
Meanwhile, Cary put another one in the bag last Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past Chapel Hill 8-2. The Imps might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four contests by six runs or more this season.
Ben Baker tossed a big game, striking out six batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Cam Shea, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. Markus Hart was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Broughton's win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 4-3. As for Cary, their victory bumped their record up to 7-0.
Broughton came out on top in a nail-biter against Cary in their previous matchup back in March of 2019, sneaking past 1-0. Will the Capitals repeat their success, or do the Imps have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
