Softball Game Preview: Central Golden Eagles vs. Smith Academy Falcons

Central is 6-1 against Smith Academy since May of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Golden Eagles will venture away from home to face off against the Falcons at 4:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Central has four straight wins, Smith Academy has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Central made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Southwick Regional, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Golden Eagles put the hurt on the Rams with a sharp 13-6 victory on Monday. Fans of the Golden Eagles have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 6+ runs.

The home team had won the previous three meetings between Smith Academy and Palmer, and Palmer kept the tradition alive. The Falcons came up short against the Panthers on Tuesday, falling 14-2.

Central's win bumped their record up to 4-0. As for Smith Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-3.

Everything went Central's way against Smith Academy in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as Central made off with an 18-9 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Golden Eagles since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
