The Mountain Range Mustangs suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Saturday. They were beaten by Monarch 78-38. Mountain Range was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 40-11.
Several Mustangs players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Delilah Lucero, who scored 14 points along with five assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Daxton Almeida, who scored four points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
Monarch's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Hayley Luther, who scored 20 points along with six rebounds and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Luther has scored all season. Savannah Weiss was another key contributor, scoring 22 points along with three steals.
Mountain Range's defeat was their tenth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 6-7. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 28.7 points per game. As for Monarch, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 6-6.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mountain Range will take on Fairview at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Fairview is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak. As for Monarch, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Fort Collins at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
