Spencerville's batters probably weren't too happy with Makenna Vondenhuevel, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 12 Ks (she gave up a single walk). Vondenhuevel has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.
At the plate, LeeAnna Travis was incredible, going 2-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Marissa McDermit, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Fort Loramie let Russia stack four runs on them in the fourth inning on Monday but luckily Fort Loramie prevailed anyway. The Redskins skirted past the Raiders 7-6. The win continues a trend for the Redskins in their matchups with the Raiders: they've now won five in a row.
The team relied heavily on Katelyn Poeppelman, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. That double marked the first that she has hit this season. Another player making a difference was Kendall Tennery, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Houston's victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-3. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games. As for Fort Loramie, they picked up their first home victory, bumping their record up to 2-7.
Fort Loramie's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Thursday. Houston has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 10.9 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Fort Loramie, though, as they've been averaging only 3.4 strikeouts. Will Houston keep running through batters, or will the Redskins buck the trend?
Houston came up short against Fort Loramie in their previous matchup back in May of 2023, falling 5-1. Can the Wildcats avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
