On Wednesday, Dec. 23 the MaxPreps travel team made its next stop to
Ridge High School in Basking Ridge, New Jersey to present the girls soccer team with the coveted Army National Guard national ranking trophy. Ridge is only one of 10 girls soccer teams being honored on the 11th Annual MaxPreps Tour of Champions presented by the Army National Guard, which is in its fifth year honoring soccer.
Head coach Katie Donahue led the Red Devils to an undefeated 23-0-1 record and the NJSIAA Group 4 state championship this past fall. The unbeaten Red Devils received the prestigious honor for being ranked No. 60 nationally in the MaxPreps computer rankings and for their championship season.

Staff Sergeant Anthony Larobina of the New Jersey Army National Guard was on-site to present the national ranking trophy to the Coach Donahue and the Red Devils during an assembly held in honor of the team. In anticipation of the recognition, the crowd was entertained by student-teacher volleyball matches which boosted the excitement and enthusiasm.
To begin the award ceremony, SSG Larobina pointed out the similarities between the Red Devils and the Army National Guard as he talked about the team’s characteristics. He commended the team for their season accomplishments and credited them to their commitment, teamwork and dedication.
As he finished applauding the Ridge soccer team on their perseverance, he proceeded to present the Minuteman trophy to Coach Donahue and everyone in attendance went wild to show their prideful support. Coach Donahue was filled with gratitude and thanked MaxPreps and the New Jersey National Guard for this tremendous honor.
