The Islands Sharks can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Wednesday. They slipped by Southeast Bulloch 69-68. The victory was just what Islands needed coming off of a 76-56 loss in their prior match.
Islands had a senior duo take command as Braylen Butterworth dropped a double-double on 21 points and 11 rebounds and Jordan Cave scored 21 points along with seven rebounds. Butterworth continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Wyatt Oliver, who scored eight points along with two steals.
Islands' victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 8-14. As for Southeast Bulloch, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-11.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Islands will face off against Memorial Day at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The timing is sure in Memorial Day's favor as the team sits on three straight wins at home while Islands has been banged up by six consecutive losses on the road. Southeast Bulloch's road trip will continue as they head out to face Bryan County at 7:30 p.m. on February 9th. Southeast Bulloch knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past four contests -- so hopefully Bryan County likes a good challenge.
