The Lexington Catholic Knights will challenge the Male Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Lexington Catholic comes in on eight and Male on four.
Lexington Catholic's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They blew past Lafayette 6-0. The Knights might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 games by six runs or more this season.
The result came thanks to Noah Cook's shutout, as he gave up just three hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single walk any time he's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Owen Jenkins, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and two runs. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season. Brady Wasik was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Meanwhile, Male got the win against Christian Academy-Louisville on Tuesday by a conclusive 8-1.
Male also got a great performance from Jaden Miller as he tossed five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits.
At the plate, West Bickett was excellent, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. He is becoming a predictor of Male's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 5-2 (and 13-15 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Kaiden Ford, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI.
Lexington Catholic pushed their record up to 18-7-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.4 runs over those games. As for Male, they now have a winning record of 18-17.
Lexington Catholic beat Male 7-4 when the teams last played back in March of 2024. Will the Knights repeat their success, or do the Bulldogs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
