On Friday Albany take on King City/Union Star at 7:00 PM. If you head out to watch the game, expect to stay the whole 48 minutes: the MaxPreps rankings predict a close match.
Albany faced North Andrew in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Albany suffered a grim 28-62 defeat to North Andrew last Friday. Albany got a solid performance out of senior Harrison Kerchner, who passed for 164 yards and 2 touchdowns; unfortunately, it just wasn't enough for the win. If you haven't heard Kerchner's name lately, then you haven't been paying much attention: he has loomed large in their past three games.
Meanwhile, King City/Union Star put the finishing touches on their 4th blowout victory of the season. Everything came up roses for them against Braymer/Breckenridge as the squad secured a 56-0 victory. The King City/Union Star offense checked out after the first half but had enough points banked to take the matchup anyway.
King City/Union Star's victory lifted them to 4-3 while Albany's defeat dropped them down to 3-4. With five turnovers, Albany had trouble holding onto the ball. We'll see if King City/Union Star exploit that vulnerability.
