Basketball Recap: Chisholm Trail Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Kaden Richardson and Jesse Mutombo

Chisholm Trail suffered their biggest loss since January 16th on Thursday. They lost 83-58 to the Brennan Bears. While losing is never fun, the Rangers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 200th, while the Bears are ranked second).

Despite the defeat, Chisholm Trail had strong showings from Jesse Mutombo, who went 6 of 11 on his way to 18 points and three steals, and Kaden Richardson, who went 8 of 20 on his way to 21 points. Richardson's evening made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Brennan to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kingston Flemings, who went 10 of 16 on his way to 23 points. Flemings has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last seven times he's played. Another player making a difference was Isaiah Ward, who went 7 for 9 en route to 17 points and six rebounds.

This is the second loss in a row for Chisholm Trail and nudges their season record down to 9-7. As for Brennan, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-2.

Chisholm Trail didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 59-46 victory against Mansfield on the 27th. As for Brennan, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, an 89-63 win against Frenship on the 27th.
